About The Write Place


The Write Place: Creative Writing School was established to provide inspiration, information and encouragement for writers. Some of my students are published writers. All my students take their writing very seriously and are driven by the desire to be published. 


 Elaine Everest

Elaine Everest is a freelance author, writer, editor and journalist. She taught creative writing for Kent Adult Education for many years before setting up The Write Place creative writing school in April 2009. Many of her previous students followed and have shared the success of The Write Place.

Elaine is a full time writer and creative writing tutor. She has had over 50 short stories published in magazines world wide and was  BBC Radio's 'Short Story Writer of the Year' in 2003. Her work is read in national newspapers such as The Daily Mail, The Daily Express and The Guardian as well as weekly and monthly magazines and online publications.

Much in demand for her opinions on dog ownership and the dog showing world she has spoken on local radio and also BBC Woman's Hour. She has been a long serving columnist for the well known canine newspaper, Our Dogs where she puts the world of dogs to rights.

Elaine's novel 'Bride of the Year was one of ten that formed the long list for the 2012 Harry Bowling Prize. In June 2013, Elaine was the winner of the Pulse/Myrmidon 'Write For Us' competition, with her novel Gracie's War. She is a member of the Romantic Novelist Association.

In May 2014 Elaine was short listed for the RNA Joan Hessayon Award with her WW2 Saga Gracie's War

She is represented by the Caroline Sheldon Literary Agency.


Non-fiction books:

A New Puppy in he Family (How To Books) was launched in July 2011. It can be found in over 227 branches of Waterstones as well as other good bookstores and Amazon.

Her book Showing Your Dog, A Beginners Guide (How To Books) is fast becoming a best seller in canine books.

Canine Cuisine, (How To Books) gained interest in the national press with Elaine giving interviews to journalists from The Independent and The Daily Mail. The book has been featured on radio and television and has reached the heady heights of number 4 in Amazon dog book rankings.


Elaine edited Diamonds and Pearls (Accent Press) a book of short stories by well known writers to raise funds for the charity Against Breast Cancer.

Her work has also been included in the well known Sexy Shorts (Accent Press) anthologies as well as 100 for Haiti. 

Elaine knows that The Write Place is the only place in the South East of England where students can learn the craft of writing and become published in the companyof a knowledgeable tutorand friendly students.
